Doctor Who will NOT be back for a full season in 2012.

BBC1 will not show a full series of Doctor Who in 2012 because of showrunner Steven Moffat's writing commitments with Sherlock. This news was confirmed by channel controller Danny Cohen.
This came as a shock to me as just last month the BBC confirmed that 14 new Doctor Who episodes had been commissioned. But what they didn't say was that not all of the commissioned episodes would be shown in 2012. Apparently they plan to split the commissioned episodes between 2012 and 2013 so that they 'can have more time to focus on the doctors 50th birthday' (in 2013). How much time do they need? If this Moffat guy wants to run around the BBC doing two jobs, that's his business. But allowing the inferior job to take priority away from superior one, that's just unforgivable.

Popular excuses for this outrage include:
"He [Moffat] needs enough time to get that [Sherlock] done and then start work on the next series of Doctor Who,"
"Steven Moffat is the creative driving force behind Doctor Who. He also, rather magically at the same time, created and got to air Sherlock. So we have to get that balance right."

I think I speak for everyone when I say: SCREW SHERLOCK!! Yeah its an ok show but it's not worth sacrificing half a series of alien fighting, world saving Doctor madness.
